Day 7 - Kinlochleven to Fort
William - 14.5 miles - The end or is it?
After yesterdays very wet day we hoped that today would bring less
water. After a jolly good night last everybody including team
Paraffin, team taxi and team beer were all reunited for the last big
push.
Before the events of the day however a quick word about the snoring
and breakfast, as I know you all hanging on for an update. Well the
snoring was the best ever. Yay. As for breakfast it had great
potential. There was porridge for the second day running and kippers
but although the porridge was very nice the kippers were cold and
the poached egg was over done. A great shame and only a 6.

Sign out of Kinlochleven
The day started with a long climb out of Kinlochleven and after
about 2 yards it started to rain. Thankfully it didn't last and
although it was hard work the views over the loch and the town were
quite stunning. After posing for photos at the top we moved on and
the path took us down a valley and round the mountains giving us
some fantastic wild, bleak highland scenery. The hardest bit came
when most of the walk was done and we were walking in pine forest.
We thought we would be walking down into Glen Nevis but there was a
steep and sustained climb which was hard work. Now I had about 3
layers on still and decided at the top to divest 2 of them.
Apparently steam was billowing off me, which provided much amusement
to all. We started getting some great views of Ben Nevis and the
cloud was clearing the top.

We went into Fort William for a few jars and a celebratory meal
chatting to some we had seen on route. I will give you some final
thoughts later.
Tomorrow we will try and do Ben Nevis after which we will have a
final celebration. I'll keep you posted.
